Ranch Remodel

Although I'm still a full time mama I'm finding more and more design projects are starting to fall in my lap.  I've been busy working on quite a few things that I can't wait to share with you!

This first project was something I worked on with family. They recently acquired an amazing property just an hour away from Santa Barbara.  The house will primarily be rented out for vacation purposes. It's the perfect getaway - not too far, but you feel like you're on true vacation surrounded by the beautiful countryside!

The home itself was in pretty good condition but the finishes were dated and the layout needed some tweaking.  On top of that we had to furnish the whole house as cost effectively as possible.  Since it will be rented out to different people on a regular basis items needed to be durable and aesthetically pleasing to a wide range of tastes.  We played up the whole Ranch vibe and tried to make the space feel warm and inviting.  Walls were torn down and rooms were opened up in order to take advantage of the gorgeous view.

Check out the pics below for a walkthrough of the remodel:

ENTRY BEFORE: When you originally walked through the front door the space felt closed in and cramped. The media room is to your right and the dining room to your left.

Walls surrounding the media room and dining room were taken down in order to open up the space.  Light immediately flooded into other rooms and the view was front and center.

AFTER: Removing those walls created one large great room.  Ideal for large groups and family!

LIVING ROOM BEFORE: The Living room had horrible tile flooring which was replaced with a warm wood floor. The dual toned brick fireplace also had to go. It was painted a fresh bright white which not only updated the space but gave new life to the pot belly stove.

AFTER: Like every other room we replaced the tired flooring, lighting and painted the walls.

KITCHEN BEFORE: The Kitchen layout was pretty much the only thing working for it.  Countertops were replaced, backsplash added and cabinetry painted.

BEFORE: We weren't sure why the ugly tile was carried up along the island but we tore that out and replaced it with wood and painted to match. The outdated arch above the entry was squared off and the post was removed to open up the space even more

The ranch is located in the Cebada Canyon area just minutes from golf and wine tasting. It's a 3 bedroom 2 bath home that sits on 21 acres of land.  If you want a relaxing getaway check out the link to the home HERE.  Yes, it may seem like a shameless plug but I've stayed here with my family and it really is an amazing spot!
